Central Coosa’s football team found itself facing a tough task in Week 0.

The Central Coosa Cougars' basketball season came to an end on Monday in the regional tournament semi-finals, dropping to Cornerstone 70-60.

The dynastic run at Central Coosa continued on Thursday as the Cougars picked up a 60-47 win over visiting B.B. Comer to secure the school’s eighth consecutive area tournament title.

The final week of the regular season had nothing to do with the postseason for the few local teams still playing but a whole lot to do with momentum into area tournaments. In the final games of the year, a few athletes sent their teams into the postseason on extremely impressive notes.

It was another classic Ben Russell v. Coosa rivalry night on Thursday with emotions high and point totals higher. In the end, both Wildcat teams were able to outlast the Coosa attack, with the girls winning 45-36 and the boys grabbing a 84-73 victory.

Central Coosa's junior high pieced together a perfect record in 2021, marking a promising future for the high school team.
