Charles “Dick” Eby, 88, formerly of Alexander City, passed away March 12, 2025 at the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles and Anna Eby. He spent his career working in Textiles, first for SMS Textiles in Allentown, Pennsylvania, followed by Russell Mills Corporation in Alexander City and last Republic Textiles in Charlotte, North Carolina and retired after 44 years in the textiles industry. He retired to Sandpiper Bay, in Sunset Beach in 2001 with his late wife of 47 years, Gerry McAllen Eby, his high school sweetheart, where he was an active member of the men’s golf group and served on the HOA Board. He was a member of St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte, North Carolina. He found love again, marrying Marjorie Lewis Eby, his wife of 19 years, in 2003. Upon her passing, he moved from Sandpiper Bay in May 2023 to Magnolia Bridge in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, an upscale senior retirement community.
