Drug busts

Six were arrested Wednesday on drug-related charges.

Authorities arrested six people Wednesday on drug-related charges after arrest and search warrants were served in the Alexander City area, according to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department.

The Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Alexander City Police Department K-9 Unit executed the warrants and investigators confiscated approximately 1 gram of heroin, 20 grams of ecstasy, 31 grams of marijuana, a Hi-Point 9mm pistol and $1,110 in cash, the sheriff’s office said in a release. It was the second time in two weeks one of the locations was visited by the task force.

Brian Hardrick Jr., 28, of Alexander City was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tony Calhoun, 34, of Alexander City was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robert Francis, 42, of Oveido, Florida, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Larry Collins, 38, of Alexander City was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime, possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Justin Vines, 38, of Alexander City was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nikki Hooks, 30, of New Site was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and distribution of a controlled substance.

The investigation of the illegal trafficking, distribution and possession of narcotics is ongoing in Tallapoosa County.
