Family files $5 million civil rights lawsuit over man’s treatment

Judge Tom Young dismissed a suit filed earlier this year by a local man and his siblings against the Alabama Department of Human Resources, one of its employees, the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and Coosa Valley Medical Center alleging their late father’s rights were violated when he was committed to a home in 2013.

A local man and his siblings are suing the Alabama Department of Human Resources, one of its employees, the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and a medical center for $5 million, alleging that their late father’s rights were violated when he was committed to a home four years ago.
