Celebrate Freedom

Celebrate Freedom is set for 6 p.m. July 3 at Benjamin Russell and fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m.

Fireworks and Christian music will be heard at the 15th annual Celebrate Freedom event beginning at 6 p.m. July 3 at Benjamin Russell.

Celebrate Freedom will feature performers 49 North and Sidewalk Prophets. Fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m.

Marshall Street Church of God pastor Rick Levell said this year’s theme is “Celebrate God and Country” and is thankful for everyone supporting the event.

“(The event) went from about 300 people to 4,000 or 5,000 on the grounds,” Levell said.

There will be military personnel from Montgomery present and a 15-minute devotion, Levell said.

The event is family-friendly and free.

“It’s a great celebration time as far as God and country,” Levell said. “It’s a great time for social connections and all that stuff. It all goes back to a family safe environment and to celebrate and to acknowledge our country’s anniversary.”

The church is still taking vendors and sponsors for Celebrate Freedom and is also hosting a Boston butt fundraiser. Those interested can call the church at 256-234-3180.
