It seems success is coming out of Auburn’s ears these days in the sports world, so it seems incredibly fitting the Lake Martin Auburn Club would ask AU director of athletics Allen Greene to be its guest speaker this year.
Every year, the Lake Martin Auburn Club tries to get a special guest at its annual meeting, and it’s hoping this year Greene can speak to the success of the entire athletic program at Auburn.
“Especially with the Final Four in men’s basketball and the College World Series in baseball, and the men’s golf team made the final eight too, the big sports this year have done very well,” Lake Martin Auburn Club president Tommy Spraggins said. “It’s a good time to be an athletic director at Auburn.”
The annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Willow Point, and with the crowds it has drawn in recent years, Spraggins is encouraging interested persons to get their tickets early. Tickets are available online at www.lakemartinauburnclub.com or via mail, which can be sent to P.O. Box 245, Alexander City, Alabama 35011.
Tickets are $40 for individuals, which includes a dinner and non-alcoholic drinks. The club is also looking for sponsorships, which cost $500. That $500 includes four tickets to the event at a table in the front of the ballroom plus a private meet-and-greet with Greene. Spraggins also said that money is going to a good cause.
“Any funds that we raise will go to our scholarship program,” Spraggins said. “We plan to give 10 $2,500 scholarships, so we need some support there. So about $350 of that $500 sponsorships will be go to the scholarship funds, and we make a little bit off the $40 tickets but not much.”
Not only will fans get to hear insight from Greene on the upcoming athletic year at Auburn, they’ll also get some face time with Aubie and the Tiger Paws.
