After committing five errors in an opening-round loss to Beulah, Dadeville’s softball team stayed alive in the Class 3A Area 7 tournament at Randolph County on Tuesday by routing B.B. Comer 11-1.
The Tigers (9-20) roared to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back in the victory. Leadoff batter Tiffany Rice had three hits and two RBIs, No. 3 batter Cali Jones added two hits and three RBIs and cleanup batter Zoe Veres had a pair of hits and two RBIs for Dadeville, which outhit Comer 12-3.
Timirian Tinsley got the win in the circle, allowing only a hit in a scoreless first two innings. Makya Johnson pitched two hitless, scoreless innings and Malorie Meadors gave up two hits and a run in the final two innings.
In the 3-1 loss to Beulah, the Tigers fell behind 3-0 in the first and never recovered. Dadeville outhit Beulah but could not overcome five errors.
Tinsley, who got the loss despite allowing only one earned run and two hits in the first two innings, scored on a passed ball in the fourth.
