With another season of hoops in the book, a few of the area’s finest players separated themselves from the pack as they led their respective teams to playoff berths.
For their statistical excellence and the team success that followed, 12 players were named to the 2012 All-Outlook basketball team.
First-team selection and Benjamin Russell guard Ronnie Stacy contributed significantly in nearly every offensive stat category while leading BRHS to the sub-regionals, where the ‘Cats were defeated by Talladega.
The Wildcats’ towering front-court duo of Javoskie McNeal and Woo Varner were heavily involved in BRHS’ offensive and defensive gameplans. McNeal’s performance landed him a first-team All-Outlook selection, while Varner made second-team All-Outlook thanks to tough inside play and ability to defend every position on the court.
Dadeville secured a 20-win season and a playoff berth behind senior Terry Toler and juniors Malik Tolbert and Jessie Foster.
A first-team selection for the second straight season, Toler averaged nearly a double-double while second-teamers Tolbert and Foster provided steady complementary scoring, particularly from long-range.
Xavier Moon led Central-Coosa to a Class 3A, Area 5 championship with numerous offensive explosions while earning a second straight first-team selection. Despite facing multiple defenders for much of the night as CCHS’ main offensive threat, Moon averaged nearly 34 points per game.
Horseshoe Bend did not have the season they were hoping for, but they were quietly paced by another two-time first-team selection in Jay Glenn, who led the Generals in scoring.
Damien Milliner of HBHS joins Glenn as an All-Outlook selection. The Generals’ man in the middle provided consistent play for Coach Boyd’s squad.
The Outlook proudly recognizes each selection for their play in the 2012-13 season and their respective teams’ success.
