Dear Editor,

I want to thank each of the 143 participants who have volunteered during the six third Saturday cleanup days held in our community this year. Each person is to be commended for their unselfish efforts to help make our community better.

Thanks to their efforts, 178.5 miles of roadway have been cleaned for those persons visiting our community making contributions to our local economy. Thanks to their efforts, 357 bags of trash were removed from the roadways where our local citizens live. Thanks to their efforts, 132,090 pieces of trash were removed from the roadways our children see each day.

Sadly, the majority of the trash picked up is the result of litter from residents in our community. Please join the cause and support the third Saturday cleanups.

More importantly, please don’t litter!
