Our View

With the end of the school year and Memorial Day approaching, family vacations are not far behind.

The Outlook encourages everyone to put some thought into spending time with family and friends. It doesn’t take much, if any, money to make memories.

Take a look around. We have access to abundant natural resources to make memories. There is Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin. There is Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. There are countless access points to the Tallapoosa River and Lake Martin to fish from the banks, hike or camp.

Many of these require little to no money, just time. Sometimes it could be as simple as rocking on the porch with family and friends and throwing a few hot dogs on the grill.

While we are at it, let’s leave behind the electronics, the tablets and the phones and stay away from the television.

Time with each other is how we remember where we come from and where we can go.

Just look to your memory. What do you remember most? Getting the latest toy or fishing with grandpa on the river or lake while hearing those stories of “I remember when … ?”
