Funeral Service for Mrs. Connie Jo Burkhalter, 88, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Cummings will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burkhalter passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center East (Montgomery). She was born on December 1, 1930 in Tallapoosa County to John Wesley Petty, Sr. and Annie Pearl Whitman Petty. She was the matriarch of a large, loving family. Her unconditional love and acceptance was truly a shining example of what a mother should be. She loved to have fun; loved children and babies; and never missed a chance to play with them outside in her pool or in her garden.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah DuPriest (Don), and Lyssa Riggins (Boyce); grandchildren, Rachel Burkhalter Latham (Jason), Emily Burkhalter Meyers (Bill), Leigh Cleveland Zornes (John), Jennifer Cleveland Phurrough, and William Burke Spears (Kenny Brown); great-grandchildren, Taylor Latham, Samantha Latham, Samuel Meyers, and Cooper Phurrough; brothers, Harold Petty and Larry Petty; sisters, Carole Petty, and Sandra Granger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zenos Willard "Bill" Burkhalter; son, Joseph Darryl Burkhalter; her parents; brother, John Wesley Petty, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Shelton, Ruth Earl Petty, Geraldine Fuller, and Glenda Jean "Dinky" Bailey.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Wayside Baptist Church, the Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
