Mr. Ward, Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born on January 22, 1956 in Ocala, Florida to Raphiel Newman Ward and Della Pearl Mitchell.
Marrell lived in Ocala until he was 17 years old. His father, Raphiel, was born and raised in Tallapoosa County, AL and wanted Marrell to share in his love for his hometown. Marrell adjusted well to the little rural town from the big city life. He met the love of his life, Linda G. Simpson, within a few months of moving to Alabama. He faithfully attended Bethel Baptist Church. Marrell was a man of great faith, hard work ethic and impeccable integrity. He was a devoted family man and was very unselfish in all that he did. He loved working with his hands. He enjoyed working in his woodshop, restoring vintage cars, building model cars and ships and growing flowers. He was instrumental in organizing and starting the successful Ducky Ward Soapbox Derby in Dadeville. He was an advocate of getting young people to spend quality time with their families and to be involved in the community and “to stay off of the couch”. He loved his family very much and was very supportive of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Ward of Dadeville; sons, Michael Marrell Ward (Kerin) and James Raphiel Ward (Nicole), both of Dadeville; special daughter-in-law, Kristy Ward Adcox (Chris) of Dadeville; grandchildren, Michael Alexander "Alex" Ward, Adam Tyler Ward, Hunter Kyle Ward and Maria-Faye Chariot "Chari" Ward; special grandchildren, Dylan Adcox and Hayden Adcox; sisters, Ellen Ward Stephens of Ocala, FL, Flossie Ward Wooten of Ocala, FL, Barbara Gayle Royster (John) of Valley, Bonnie O'Hara (Greg) of Opelika and Susan Cox (Jerry Lee) of Prattville; brothers, Randy Pennington of Jackson's Gap and Walter Buster Creedle (Teresa) of Opelika; brother-in-law, Billy Boerstler of Jackson's Gap; special niece, Helena Agronow-Capp (Bruce) of Calhoun, GA; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
