Local music group The Bank Walkers will provide members of the public with live entertainment during tonight’s monthly installment of Strand Sessions. Put on by the Lake Martin Young Professionals, the Strand Sessions are scheduled to run from April to August this year.

“It’s a good chance for people to come out, spend time together and enjoy some free music,” said Jacob Meacham, the Vice President of Business Development with the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce.

Like many of the acts featured during the monthly Strand Sessions, The Bank Walkers are a local music group that has performed throughout the Lake Martin area, including at previous Strand Sessions and the Russell Forest Run.

Meacham said that, when selecting musicians to play the Strand Session series, they try to provide a wide range of genres that would be well received among the public. By having The Bank Walkers at multiple Strand Sessions, there is no doubt that they are a much anticipated group of musicians.

To provide attendees with something to eat while they enjoy The Bank Walkers, Sonny’s Hot Dogs will be set up at the park. Though there will not be other vendors with their displays at the Strand Session, Meacham said that some of the businesses that sponsor the event, including Bice Motors, the Lake Martin Area Association of Realtors and USAmeriBank may have some signage or a table set up, with some of them possibly having giveaways for the public.

Should rain be in the forecast for this evening, Meacham said that the entertainment would be moved inside to the Fermenter’s Market.

Whether this month’s Strand Sessions will be indoors or out, food from Sonny’s Hot Dogs and entertainment from The Bank Walkers should prove to mean an exciting evening for those who make their way downtown. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., and should probably last until around 9 p.m.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out and support our local businesses and musicians,” Meacham said.
