Alexander City Parks and Recreation Department’s Oktoberfest has yet to begin, and it already looks to be promising with a lineup of food and fun for everyone.
This will be the 36th year for the area’s annual Oktoberfest. The Saturday, Oct. 8 event at the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex will bring back crowd favorites and introduce new musical acts, as well as new vendors.
“We have gotten some better entertainment this year,” Parks and Recreation Director Sonny Wilson said. “We are having some different kinds of entertainment than we have had before. We have Katlin Hill and B. Snipes coming.”
If those names sound familiar, it’s because they performed at the Strand Sessions this past summer.
Kevin Moore and the Highway 280 Band will also be performing.
The event is one of the biggest that the department holds each year.
A favorite food vendor is returning.
“We will have Fire Truck Barbecue again this year,” Wilson said. “We will also have other food vendors, too. We are getting vendors signing up now.”
The event serves as an opportunity to show off the park, and also as a promotion for the area to those that are attending from out of town.
There will be entertainment for all age groups with kid’s activities
Oktoberfest will again feature one ff the area’s largest classic car and truck shows. a car and truck show and entertainment.
There will also be the third annual 5K Fun Run/Walk with registration at 6:30 a.m. Oktoberfest is just a good way to socialize and enjoy the fall weather.
Admission is free and the event runs from 8 a.m. until the vendors close. There will be shuttle transport from the parking lot at the football field to the fair grounds and the event is wheelchair accessible.
