All five Tallapoosa County storm shelters, originally set to open at 6 p.m. Wednesday, are now open to the public.

Alexander City City Hall closed its city offices at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, opening up its storm shelter 30 minutes later. Those sheltering at City Hall will move to the basement if necessary.

Shelters will remain open overnight until 6 a.m. Thursday or whenever the threat passes.
