Summer swimming, reading, team building, skating, arts and crafts, bowling and movies are just a few of the activities the Boys & Girls Club of the Lake Martin Area summer programs will offer from June 4 through July 28.

“It’s our goal to avoid boredom but to inspire,” CEO Melissa Reynolds said.

This year’s theme is Adventure Fun Summer Camp. Breakfast will be served in the morning followed by exercises meant to teach healthy choices and educate. Occasional excursions and field trips will follow lunch and the unit features the biggest playground in the area, unit director Bridgett Harrell said.

The staff includes current and retired teachers from local schools and student interns from local colleges.

The summer program is open to all children and registration is underway for limited spots. The fee is $55 weekly for the first child, $45 for the second and $35 for the third and fourth.

To register children, parents can contact the administration office at 256-234-4757 or stop in person at the units at the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex gym in Alexander City and in Goodwater at 166 Harris St.
