The Alexander City Board of Education meets during a special-called meeting Wednesday to discuss an amended COVID-delayed school calendar.

The Alexander City Board of Education this morning approved a change to the start of the 2020-21 school year to Sept. 8 for traditional classes.

Virtual classes will still begin Aug. 20 and teachers will still begin Aug. 13.

Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford said some of the equipment needed to fulfill the schools' Return to Learn plan is on backorder and he doesn't feel comfortable starting school without everything in place.
