The Alexander City Board of Education briefly met at 7 a.m. Tuesday to hire new personnel for the summer.
The board voted unanimously to hire six people and accepted one transfer.
“(We’re) trying to get good personnel before other superintendents call meetings and hire them,” superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford said. “During the month of June we generally have a couple of special-called meetings and they’re primarily for personnel actions to get everybody hired in the staff.”
Lankford acknowledged the central office staff for its work in the early-morning meeting and said the next school board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 25.
“I’ll get to sleep more one of these days,” board member Denise Bates said jokingly.
Board members Dorothea Walker and Kelly Waldrop were not present.
