Alex City Area Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its latest home in September and since then volunteers have been hard at work at the Scott Road property. President Larry Bates said the organization’s family selection committee has chosen a homeowner. Bates said he is pleased with the work the volunteers have done so far and how progress is being made at the home. Habitat for Humanity’s unique ministry role is to provide decent, safe, affordable housing at no profit or interest for those who need it and are responsible enough to handle it. Homeowners even help build their homes. If you would like to volunteer to help build the home, contact Bates at or 256-212-1430.
