Horizons Unlimited is a community service in its 29th year and provides an opportunity for mature learners to meet in an informal environment to explore new subjects, gain new insights from experts in their fields and meet new friends.

Meetings are held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Mondays at the First United Methodist Church — Trinity Campus. Member is $20 per person or $30 per couple each semester.

The Sept. 16 speaker is Chris Goodman, a hydro manager for Alabama Power. He is responsible for the hydro generation dams and units on the Tallapoosa River that include R.L. Harris, Martin, Yates and Thurlow. The Tallapoosa River group also manages the Fort Rucker solar site for Alabama Power. He graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in chemical engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama.
