on the pontoon

On the Pontoon is still on the schedule for Sun Festival on Saturday as of now.

The pontoon ride is still taking reservations and will leave the dock at 9 a.m. Saturday. With impending rain, organizer Paige Patterson said if the event is canceled she will notify those with reservations Saturday morning.

Patterson said this is the fourth year she’s held the event and it was so popular she had to get a second pontoon for participants.

“I think it’s a whole new crowd that I’ve never met,” Patterson said. “We love to show off the gorgeous shoreline of the north end of the lake and of course a flash of real estate.”

Patterson said the boats will be leaving at Creem at the Creek in Wind Creek State Park.

“We are so appreciative of Sun Festival to and participate again this year,” Patterson said.

Weather has put a damper on a couple of Sun Festival events so far causing them to be postponed or rescheduled.

The cornhole tournament, which was scheduled for Thursday, is rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 14 at Coffee Corner on Main in downtown Alexander City.

Saturday's inaugural Tykes in Trucks was also canceled due to inclement weather. While there is no makeup date at this time, officials hope to host the event later this summer or early fall.
