Hackneyville Volunteer Fire Department fireworks bash

The Hackneyville Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fireworks bash draws in a crowd of about 3,000 each year. 

The Hackneyville Volunteer Fire Department is preparing for its the seventh annual fireworks bash June 29.

The annual bash is one of the volunteer fire department’s fundraisers and it is hoping to raise $20,000, according to Kandi Patterson, firefighter Ricky Patterson’s wife.

“I hope it brings some people in to our little community,” Patterson said.

The event will have food vendors, inflatables and water slides for children. It will also feature live performances from Clay Barker, “Kowaliga Idol” winner Patrick Barnett and headliners Kevin Moon and Ashton Shepherd.

Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. 

“It brings the community together (and) it will add some life to the area,” Patterson said.

The event will raffle a Big Green Egg and a Ruger 10/22 rifle and tickets cost $10 each. T-shirts will be sold for $20.

Patterson said about 3,000 people attend the event every year.

“It’s a great family event (with) lots of entertainment, lots of food and the best fireworks around this area,” Patterson said.

Admission is $10 per person and children under 5 get in free.

The event will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. at 9438 Highway 63 North.
