CACC’s Cook: JUCO Player of the Year

For the second straight year, a Central Alabama Community College sports star has received the top junior college honor in the state.
CACC pitcher Wes Cook was named the JUCO Player of the Year on Tuesday by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, a year after Trojan golfer Zach Primavera won the same award.

The Central Alabama golf team fired a 3-over par 291 in Tuesday’s first round of the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail River Course at Hampton Cove.
The Trojans, ranked third in the nation, trail top-ranked McLennan (Texas) by five shots. McLennan, the defending champion, sits at 2-under.
