Lion backs run past Cougars

MUNFORD – The Cougars of Central High School Coosa County could not stop the ground attack of Munford High School, losing 43-13.
The Cougars (0-8, 0-6) gave up a total of total of 240 yards rushing on 33 carries to Lions’ rushers, but Cougar head coach Rich Cahalane said he was happy that the team didn’t give up.
“We played to the end,” Cahalane said of the team. “There’s no quit in us.”
The Lions’ Michael Long led all rushers with 99 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns. Marcellus Curry added 98 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns and Bradley Heard scored once.
Coosa had some playmakers of its own as Marcus Judkins had 11 carries for 71 yards. He also threw the ball for 77 yards and two touchdowns on 6-14 passing.
Judkins connected with Jamal Burns for a 24-yard pass with 3:15 left in the first quarter. He also connected with Levi Wilson for 15 yards with 3:41 remaining in the second quarter.
Coosa plays at Anniston next week.
