Women of Tomorrow plan holiday dinner

Women of Tomorrow is hosting a free pre-Thanksgiving dinner in an effort to give back to the community.
The traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Early Rose District Center, located on the corner of E and B Street.
Women of Tomorrow is an outreach ministry made up of LaStarla Williams, Angela Riggins and LaSshonda Russell, all employees of the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home.
“This has been something we have wanted to do for a while, but we were not in a place in our lives to do it,” Williams said. “God brought us together with the same ideas, as far as what to do to reach out to other people. We were able to share our ideas with each other and came up with the pre-Thanksgiving dinner for our first project.”
The families and co-workers of the ladies will be assisting them with the dinner.
The menu will include fried chicken, baked chicken, dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, potato salad, sweet potato pie, cakes and canned drinks or water.
The ministry has received some donations and is also purchasing some of the food.
“We welcome cash or food donations or volunteers,” Williams said. “If anyone would like to be a part of this day of giving to those in need, we welcome you.”
Delivery is available for those not able to leave their homes by calling one of the contact numbers and leave a name and address by Friday.
The theme for Women of Tomorrow is “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want,” Phillipians 4:12.
“The scripture is from God and says everything we need it to say,” Williams said. “Our goal is to do something today for tomorrow.”
The ladies expect to feed at least 250 people.
“We encourage anyone to come and enjoy the meal,” Williams said. “If anyone is interested in becoming a part of Women of Tomorrow, our only qualification is you must be a Christian.”
