BREAKING NEWS: Police respond to armed robbery call

The Alexander City Police Department is responding to a possible armed robbery at a Christian bookstore in downtown.

Minutes ago, the police were dispatched to For Heaven's Sake Christian Bookstore following a reported attempted robbery.

The suspect was described as a man wearing light-colored jeans with holes and maroon shorts underneath, a black sweatshirt and blue striped gloves, according to a description given over police radios. The suspect also reportedly brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun.

There is no immediate word if a suspect was arrested.

Alexander City Middle School was alerted about the situation by police.
