Woman still in hospital after crash

Published Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Four people were hospitalized after a Monday morning crash, which occurred at the intersection of U.S. 280 and E. Lafayette Street in Dadeville.

Dadeville Police Lt. David Barbour said the accident occurred when a 2000 Dodge Stratus driven by Billy F. Williamson and traveling East bound on U.S. 280 collided with a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Linda F. Freeman.

The Stratus ran the light at the intersection causing the wreck, according to Barbour.

“Williamson had run the red light because his vision was blinded by the sun,” Barbour said. “He did not see the light.”

Barbour said Williamson, the two passengers in his vehicle and Freeman were all transported to Lake Martin Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Betty Jane Williamson was transported by helicopter to UAB Hospital. Barbour said the patient was currently in stable condition at the hospital as of Tuesday morning.

“As far as I know everyone else has been treated and released” (from the hospital,) Barbour said.
