Adcock named top realtor
Published Friday, July 24, 2009
It would be an understatement to say that Toni Adcock was surprised to be named realtor of the year.
Adcock, an associate broker with RE/MAX Lake Martin Properties in Dadeville, said she had no idea that she had been chosen to be the Lake Martin Area Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year until 2008 winner Sherry Peavy was halfway through the introduction.
“I had no idea,” Adcock said. “She got halfway through describing me before I understood.”
Adcock moved to the Lake Martin area from Atlanta in 1999 and joined a local real estate office as an office assistant. In 2002 she obtained her real estate license and in 2005 joined RE/MAX.
“This realtor treats agents with dignity and respect and has a great appreciation for their efforts and hard work,” Peavy said in the introduction. “She will go out of her way to help a fellow agent close a successful transaction.”
It is that same hard work and dedication that helped Adcock win the award, according to LMAAR president Linda Gunn.
“She’s always willing to help anyone with anything,” Gunn said.
“She has served in every capacity that she can. We are very glad to have her as a member of the community.”
Adcock said she was honored to be among many great realtors who have received the distinction.
“I’m very honored they chose me,” Adcock said. “People who have been chosen for this are fabulous realtors. To be in that group is just an honor.
“Some have done amazing things in real estate,” Adcock added. “I admire and respect them.”
In addition to being a realtor, Adcock is vice president of the Dadeville Chamber of Commerce board of directors and will be the next president. She is also the third vice president of the Lake Martin Home Owners and Boat Owners Association board of directors and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Red Ridge United Methodist Church.
“I have never lived in a small town until we moved here,” Adcock said. “To know all the people in the stores and in government offices is very special to me. I love it and I want to be a part of it.”
