Coosa man injured in wreck
Driver still in critical condition
Published Monday, August 31, 2009
A Coosa County man remains in critical condition Monday after a single-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon.
Cedric Lamar Debandelaban of Goodwater was injured as a result of a wreck occurring on U.S. Highway 280 at mile marker 52 in Coosa County.
Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Robert Watson said Debandelaban’s vehicle ran off the road at 3:35 p.m.
“The vehicle struck a culvert and came to rest along the side of the road,” Watson said. “It was a straight forward crash that resulted in an injury to the driver and serious damage to the car.”
Debandelaban was airlifted by Life Flight helicopter to UAB Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
“The cause of the crash is still under investigation,” Watson said.
Watson said the wreck occurred prior to Friday’s rains and the weather was clear. Debandelaban was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
“There is no indication that alcohol was involved in the crash at this time,” Watson said. “The vehicle ran off the road for unknown reasons.”
