An expression of gratitude to County DHR and others

Published 6:45pm Thursday, July 31, 2014

Dear Editor:
This week a group of foster families from Tallapoosa County got together at the Alex City pool to celebrate the end of summer and school starting again. It was a wonderful opportunity for these families to get to know each other a little better and to build a sense of community and support within our foster families. We had 45 adults and children in attendance, including representatives from Tallapoosa County DHR. A great time was had by all!
At the end of the night, the kids were able to take home bags of school supplies for the new school year. We’re so thankful to the many churches and groups who helped collect school supplies for our foster children. These groups include Orr St Baptist Church, Sixth St Baptist Church, New Concord Baptist Church, Bay Pine Baptist Church, the Tallapoosa Christian Crisis Center, the Alex City Police Department, Jacob’s Ladder, and many individuals. Thanks to their donations, we had plenty of supplies to give to all the children! And thank you to the Alex City Parks & Rec Department for allowing us to use the city pool. It was such a great night for our families.
If anyone is interested in more information on becoming a foster family, you can contact Tallapoosa County DHR at 256-825-3700. We are always in need of more families to provide a safe and loving home for children in need.

With A Thankful Heart,
A Local Foster Mom
