Marshall Street to offer patriotic showPublished 7:08pm Friday, June 20, 2014
Marshall Street Church of God is continuing the tradition of hosting a celebration of God and country.
Marshall Street Church of God will once again team with the City of Alexander City and area businesses to host its patriotic celebration July 3 starting at 6 p.m.
Pastor Rick Levell from Marshall Street Church of God said this is the ninth year the Christian event has been hosted at the Benjamin Russell High School band field with music, food and fireworks.
“The Alabama Spirituals will be singing and a group called The Martins will be singing – they are one of the largest Southern Gospel groups in the nation,” Levell said. “At 9:30 p.m., we will have our fireworks show go off, which will be hosted by Pyro Productions again out of Birmingham.”
The Martins are a Southern Gospel group made up of siblings Joyce, Jonathan and Judy, who have radio No. 1 singles including ‘The Promise, ‘We Trust in God’ and ‘Grace.’
Levell said those attending should bring a lawn chair, blanket or something to sit on for the concert and fireworks portion of the show.
Vendors will also be on hand with food, drink and snow cones.
Levell added the event will be Christian centered and family friendly.
“It’s a community project and something we just do for the community. The community helps out and gets involved,” Lavell said. “It’s a family friendly place. We ask that no one bring coolers or alcohol, especially because it’s on school grounds and it’s a Christian event. It’s a great time to come hang out.”
