New children’s clothing store opens downtown

Published 7:29pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Stephanie Smith, owner of Little Black Dress, has opened a new store in town.

Nathan & Claire opened it’s doors Monday, and Smith said the idea was born out of what she saw was a local necessity.

“We needed kids clothing just like we needed the dress shop,” Smith said. “We had a need, and I filled it.”

The store’s namesake comes from two of Smith’s Children, Nathan and Emily Claire.

“We will have boys and girls clothing from infant to tween, (ages 11-12),” Smith said. “We are trying to keep it fresh and new. We want something different that people haven’t seen before.”

The store offers a variety of clothing, but it also will have other items such as diaper bags, gifts and toys.

“We will also have seasonal offerings,” Smith said. “When it gets closer to school time we will have backpacks and school supplies. We are going to have a little bit of something for everyone.”

Smith said she will also offer gift cards as well as registries for baby showers and birthdays.

“We will offer registries, and our computer system will keep track so no one buys the same present,” Smith said.

The store will be open Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday.

“Hopefully we will be able to pull people from the area into downtown, which is what my goal is with both businesses,” Smith said.

Nathan and Claire is planning an official grand opening in the coming weeks. Follow Nathan and Claire on Facebook to be informed on upcoming events, sales and specials.

The store is located at 49 Main Street and can be reached at 256-234-9099.
