The Dadeville City Council awarded W.S. Newell and Sons the paving project for the road leading to KwanSung’s new facility during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

The council passed resolution 14-13, which awarded W.S. Newell and Sons the project to pave 3 Industrial Boulevard for $742,720 part of which will be in Alabama Department of Transportation grant funds.

During Tuesday’s meeting, councilman James Tarpley brought up the possibility of the city aiding in renovations being done of Dadeville High School’s Tiger Stadium.

“There are a group of our constituents – taxpayers, local citizens – who are doing pretty significant renovation on our high school field,” Tarpley said. “The monies that they have spent, that they have raised, a great deal of it has been awarded by our county commission.”

Tarpley added that the renovations include roofing being completed on fieldhouse, as well as work being done to make the facility more handicap accessible.

“Right now, there are no handicap facilities, and one of the things you need are handrails. They contacted me and wanted to know if we could give some money,” Tarpley said. “I think that we should do something. I believe the county gave $50,000 for the work that’s been done at this point.”

During the meeting, the city council also donated $1,000 to youth football program in Dadeville.
