Winn-Dixie to sponsor Sun Festival firework show

The Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that is has secured a sponsor for this year’s firework show.

The firework show, which is slated to begin around 10 p.m. Saturday, July 26, will immediately follow the Diamond Rio concert.

Winn-Dixie will serve as the sponsor of the firework show.

“We are very excited and Winn-Dixie is excited to be a part of it,” said Kim Dunn, membership services director and events coordinator for the chamber. “Winn-Dixie’s manager Chris Hall is very committed to this community, and he wants the community to know what it means to Winn-Dixie.”

Dunn said being a sponsor is helps the businesses get their name out there, which is in line with the concept of Sun Festival.

“The whole premise of Sun Festival is to promote Alexander City and our businesses, as well as provide community development for our citizens,” Dunn said. “Sun Festival is not about the Chamber. We are the umbrella that houses it all and just keeps it all flowing. It is all about the community and our businesses.”

Dunn said that there are still opportunities for sponsorship.

“Sponsorships start at $200 and goes as high as someone is willing to give,” Dunn said. “We have a lot of different levels, so any business, civic group or other group can get involved and have their name associated with Sun Festival.”

Some specific events need sponsorship, Dunn added, but there are also ways to sponsor the entire week.

Dunn said those interested in sponsorship can contact the chamber at 256-234-3461.
