Wildcats shut out Sylacauga 4-0

Published 10:12am Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Behind two goals from Grant Hudson, the Benjamin Russell Wildcats rebounded from their 3-2 loss at Auburn to shut out the Sylacauga Aggies 4-0.
With the win, BRHS stands at 15-3-1.
According to soccer coach Austin Teel, the win was exactly what his team needed.
“After losing to one of the top programs in the state in Auburn, we were still kind of hungover from it,” Teel said. “But our guys went out and did what they needed to do. It’s always fun to play and beat Sylacauga.”
Franklin Staples and Cole Grogan each scored for the Wildcats as well.
Next for the Wildcats is a home match with Class 6A foe Chelsea.
Teel considers the game to be another tune up for the postseason.
“Like Sylacauga, they typically play the John Carrolls and the Homewoods of the world, so it helps to prepare us for the playoff run we hope to make in the future,” Teel said. “As far as we’re concerned this should be a playoff type of match.”
Weather permitting, BRHS and Chelsea will play at 7 p.m.  tonight from the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex
