Jim Pearson Elementary School will have a new principal for the 2014-15 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Darrell Cooper confirmed Monday that the contract for Jim Pearson’s current principal, Pam Langford, had not been renewed.

The job has been posted on the Alabama State Department of Education’s website, as well as the Alexander City Board of Education website, Cooper said, which is required by law.

“We will be looking for a new principal to lead Jim Pearson Elementary School,” Cooper said. “We have good faculty in place, good children, and we are looking for someone to take that school to even greater heights.”

Cooper would not comment on the reasons why Langford’s contract was not renewed. Langford has served as the school’s principal for a total of five years, Cooper said.

The job’s effective date would be July 1, 2014 or earlier. Applications should be sent to Mrs. Gail Brasell, 375 Lee Street, Alexander City, AL

35010. The deadline to apply is April 3, or until the position has been filled.

Candidates must have certification in educational leadership, school principal or administration and supervision.

Applications can be downloaded from www.alexcityschools.net
