Published 10:20am Wednesday, March 26, 2014

K-Rae Blasingame and the Horseshoe Bend Lady Generals had themselves an outstanding Lady Tiger Classic over the weekend.
Despite finishing runner-up, the Lady Generals put together one of the more dominant outings by any tournament participant.
Horseshoe Bend went 4-1 in Anniston, with each of their wins coming in dominating fashion as the combined scoring margin of those games was 41-1.
The Lady Generals shut-out Cleburne County 8-0 and followed that with a 13-0 blitzing of Ranburne.
The one-sidedness continued in favor of Horseshoe Bend, as they handled Walter Wellborn 11-1 and ran over Jacksonville to the tune of 9-0.
“We finally hit the ball well,” said HBHS softball coach Kim Vickers. “Everyone put the ball in play. We played well on both sides.”
The Lady Generals tasted defeat at the hands of Leeds in the Lady Tiger Classic final, where they lost 4-0.
Blasingame earned each win, going complete games in every contest except Ranburne, as Erin Vickers earned the save.
As of press time, this places the Lady Generals, who were ranked No. 7 in Class 2A at one point this season, at 11-6 on the season.
