Funeral service for Mr. Roger Franklin Smelley, 62, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Tony Harris and Rev. Rick Levell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Smelley passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born on June 28, 1951 in Talladega, Alabama to Hyliard Leonard Smelley and Nellis Naff Sisk Smelley. Mr. Smelley loved his family and especially his granddaughter Shaunna. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching Nascar racing. Mr. Smelley loved sitting on the back porch, listening to country music and cooking on the grill.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Smelley of Alexander City; daughter, Carrie Lynn Smelley of Alexander City; son, Christopher Scott Smelley of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; brother, Frank Luckie (Vonnie), of Millbrook; granddaughter, Shaunna Elizabeth Smelley of Alexander City and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edward Haynes and Richard Haynes.
