Trojans’ Skipper silences Marion

Published 9:31pm Friday, March 14, 2014

Since starting the season at 2-10, the Central Alabama Trojans are starting to look a little bit more like their championship-winning selves.
CACC took down Marion Military Institute 2-0 to earn its eighth win in the last 10 games.
Hunter Skipper was the difference maker, throwing an eight-inning gem from the mound for Central Alabama.
In his outing, Skipper struck out eight batters and only allowed two hits to Marion’s batters. He also walked three.
The Trojans needed all of Skipper’s effort, as their offense was held in check for much of the day.
CACC eventually broke through in the fifth inning, putting up two runs.
Ryan Raspino and Ryan Smith each had one RBI, while Tripp Whatley and Zach Mayhew each scored one run.
Smith was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
CACC will attempt to make it three straight wins over Marion in double-header action today at Marion. Game one starts at noon, with game two scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
