Reed leads Lady Trojans to 8-0 win vs. Jeff Davis

Callie Reed slammed the door on the Jefferson Davis Lady Warhawks, pitching a shutout in the Central Alabama Lady Trojans’ 8-0 win.
CACC softball improved to 18-4 on the year with the victory.
Over her five innings of work, Reed gave up three hits and struck out five.
Her efficient effort was complemented by big performances at the plate by Whitney Woodyard and Brianna Buie.
Woodyard and Buie combined for six RBIs for the Lady Trojans. Woodyard drove in four runs and was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.
Buie also left the yard during the game and was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Megan Webb accounted for two RBIs as well, getting two hits in the contest.
On the basepaths, Taylor Clinkenbeard was up to her usual tricks, swiping two bags. She scored two runs in addition to her base thievery.
Anna Gayle Norris, Haley Rainwater and Emily Miller also scored one run apiece for the Lady Trojans.
The Lady Trojans return to action on the diamond this Friday, when they play in the Southern Union Lady Bison tournament.
CACC will play Darton State in their opening game, which is set to start at 1 p.m., and will follow up with a 5 p.m. game against Calhoun Community College.
