The Central Alabama Lady Trojans softball team have roared out of the gate, compiling a 17-4 record at the midpoint of the season.
In their most recent action, the Lady Trojans split a double-header versus Marion Military Institute.
In game one, CACC handily downed MMI 12-4 to push their current win streak to seven games.
The Lady Trojans’ game-one victory was powered by the long ball, as Anna Gayle Norris, Brianna Buie and Shelby Lopez each cleared the fence. As a team, CACC had 15 hits.
Buie and Lopez were dominant at the plate, as Buie collected three RBIs.
Lopez pounded out two doubles to go along with her home run.
Norris added two RBIs. Emily Miller, Whitney Woodard, and Tatum Gandy also drove in one run each.
Callie Reed picked up the win in the five-inning affair, striking out four in four innings of work.
In game two, however, the Lady Trojans’ streak was snapped in a fashion similar to how game one went, as MMI defeated CACC 11-3.
CACC allowed 18 hits to MMI. Woodard had the lone RBI for CACC, and also stole a base.
Taylor Clinkenbeard was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
