Funeral service for Rev. Henry Grady Goodman, 92, of Jackson, Alabama will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Henderson and Pastor Ed Colley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.


Rev. Goodman passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab Center in Opelika. He was born on July 19, 1921 in Thomasville, Alabama to Henry Grady Goodman, Sr. and Ethel Webb Goodman. He was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church in Thomasville, Alabama. Rev. Goodman was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on February 19, 1950 at Issaquena First Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Mississippi. He served as pastor for many Churches in Mississippi and Alabama. Among those Churches were Comer Memorial Baptist Church in Alexander City, Alabama, First Baptist Church, Fairfax, Alabama, Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson, Alabama, and Round Hill Baptist Church in Thomasville, Alabama. He became a certified pilot in 1964 and in four decades logged over 6441 hours. He served as a flight instructor for 40 years and taught many people to fly. He received his education from Clarke College in Newton, MS and Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. Rev. Goodman also served a teacher for Howard Extension for ten years. Rev. Goodman loved the Lord, loved to study the Bible, and was a faithful servant.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcalyn Price (Terry), of Auburn; son, Thomas Garon Goodman (Sheryl), of Lufkin, TX; daughter-in-law, Sandra Goodman of College Station, TX: grandchildren, Renee Parker, Traci Airington; Rusty Goodman (Courtney), Jac Goodman (Steve), Melanie Shores (Josh), Stephanie Donnelly (Jake), April Richey (Zach), Autumn Parker, Dylan Parker, Emma Airington, Calli Airington, Emma Shores, Eitan Teiler-Goodman, Cooper Goodman, Kate Goodman; great-great-grandchildren, Preslee Richey and Aubree Richey: brother, Walter Goodman (Juanita),  of Alexandria, LA; sister, Virginia Goodman Dunaway (Charles), of Pensacola, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Annie Belle McDonald Goodman; son, David Wayne Goodman; and his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jackson Senior Center, 1701 College Avenue, Jackson, Alabama, 36545 or to one’s Church or favorite charity.
