All-Outlook boys hoops team: 2013

Honoring the season’s best ballers

2013 was the year of the guard across the local basketball landscape.
Numerous slashers and sharpshooters made their way to the forefront and lead their teams to winning records and, in some cases, area championships.
Benjamin Russell High went from 9-15 in 2012 to 15-9 in 2013. A big reason for that turnaround was the play of Ronnie Stacy.
As the unquestioned leader of the Wildcats, Stacy lead the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game with his explosive style of play.
In addition, junior Tyrik Norris asserted himself among the best No. 2-options in the area, while Q. Johnson and Rod Hunter’s tenacious defensive play made lives miserable for the opposition.
Dadeville claimed the Class 4A-Area-5 regular season and tournament titles on the strength of Jay Foster, Malik Tolbert and C.J. Tolbert’s perimeter play.
It also helped to have 6-foot-4, 245-pounder Anfernee Jennings pounding away on the inside.
Despite the loss of star guard Xavier Moon, Central-Coosa returned to the sub-regional round as Quin Robbins was able to elevate his play as the team’s No. 1 option. Tre Royal’s defense and hustle offered a complement to Robbins’ typically patient game.
In Reeltown, the Rebels ran all the way to the sub-regional round thanks to its nightmarish length — inside and out — as well as a commitment to a fast-paced style of offense. D’angelo Dancy and Ariko Stewart were tough matchups for all teams, while Ed Carraker and Bradley McKiethen dominated the glass for the boys in blue and white.
For all of their accomplishments, we applaud the 2013 All-Outlook boys basketball team.
