Keley Williams and Kristen Tolbert powered the Dadeville Lady Tigers to a 4-1 victory over cross-town rival Reeltown in softball action.
The game was the Lady Tigers’ varsity home opener, and for the majority of it the Lady Rebel bats were held rather quiet by Jodie Caldwell.
Locked in a pitcher’s duel for the first half of the game, the Lady Tigers finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Baxlee McKelvey started the rally with a single, and was moved into scoring position by a Sierra Wyckoff groundout.
Tolbert rapped a double to deep left center-field, bringing in McKelvey for the game’s first score.
After Caldwell moved Tolbert to third with a single, she stole second base, leaving the Tigers with two on and two outs.
Williams then brought both runners across home plate with a double, making the game 3-0.
In the top of the sixth, Reeltown made a dent in the deficit, getting one run across.
Dadeville immediately regained its three-run advantage in the bottom half of the frame, when Tolbert legged out a lead-off triple and later scored on a Madison Harrelson groundout.
Caldwell and the Tigers’ defense slammed the door in the seventh, putting out the Rebels in order to secure the win.
Caldwell got the victory, throwing a complete game and striking out five and allowing five hits while walking one batter. She also went 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base to help her cause.
Tolbert and Williams were each 3-for-3 on the day.
Tolbert scored two runs and had one RBI. Williams knocked in two RBIs and had two steals. Harrelson had the other RBI for DHS.
