The Dadeville Police Department has arrested the wife of accused armed robber Robert Shannon Carswell in connection with last week’s robbery of Lake Martin Pharmacy in Dadeville.

Investigators determined that 27-year-old April Carswell — also known as April Schieferstein and April Michelle Harris — of Notasulga was waiting in her husband’s vehicle as he allegedly pointed a gun at employees of the Mariarden Road pharmacy and stole several bags of controlled substances Feb. 11, according to Dadeville Police Chief David Barbour.

27-year-old April Carswell was charged with five counts of pharmacy robbery in the Feb. 11 hold-up of Lake Martin Pharmacy in Dadeville.

Warrants were obtained against Mrs. Carswell for one count of Pharmacy Robbery. Further charges for possession of drug paraphernalia were filed after investigators served a search warrant. Mrs. Carswell also faces pending charges of possession of a controlled substance in Macon County, according to Barbour, and the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department has charged her with promoting prison contraband.

Other possible charges are pending, Barbour added.

Investigators from the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, Tallapoosa County Drug Taskforce, Tallassee Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the probe.
