UPDATE: Dadeville Police capture armed robbery suspect

Published 2:35pm Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Dadeville Police spent Tuesday searching for a suspect who robbed Lake Martin Pharmacy at gunpoint earlier that morning.

According to Dadeville Police Chief David E. Barbour, a white male entered the pharmacy on Mariarden Drive around 9:42 a.m. Tuesday and demanded various narcotics from employees at the store. He was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol.

No injuries were reported in the armed robbery, but Barbour said employees were left terrified. Barbour said the suspect left with “several bags of controlled substances.”

The suspect remained at large most of the day, though late Tuesday afternoon, DPD said they had a man in custody. The suspect was apprehended in Tallassee. He declined to name the suspect by press time because investigators were “making sure it was all put together” and warrants were served.

Barbour noted that they received a lot of help from the public thanks to timely publication of photos and video of the crime.

“If not for the help of the press and the public, this would have been a hard one to track down,” Barbour said. “They helped us put it all together.”

Dadeville Police were assisted by the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.
