Published 11:23am Friday, February 7, 2014

If the Central – Coosa County Cougars want to claim a second straight Class 3A-Area 5 tournament title, they’ll have to do so without the benefit of home-court advantage.
Below are some quick hits for upcoming tournament action for the Cougars.

Site
The Class 3A-Area 5 tournament will be held at Trinity Presbyterian School. Central – Coosa finished No. 2 in the area.
The Trinity Wildcats dominated area play with a sparkling 6-0 record.
The Cougars were able to keep both meetings with Trinity close, but were unable to win, leaving them to try and defend the area title away from home.

Semifinal opponent
Central-Coosa takes on the area’s No. 3 seed B.B. Comer.
The Cougars split both regular-season meetings with B.B. Comer, destroying the Tigers 70-35 at home, but losing on the road 35-31.

Last tourney meeting
This will be the first meeting between both teams in area tournament action.

Tip-off
Central-Coosa and B.B. Comer tip off at 5:30 p.m. Friday from Trinity Presbyterian School, with the Trinity vs. Thorsby game to follow.
