Rebels cold in loss to Indians

Published 11:40am Monday, January 20, 2014

The Reeltown Rebels are starting to slide.

After winning three straight games and jumping out to a 6-2 start to the season, the Rebels’ hoops squad has come out on the short end of the stick in each of its last three outings.

The most recent setback came at the hands of Loachapoka. Reeltown lost 56-49, falling to 6-5 on the season. D’angelo Dancy led the Rebels with 17 points. He also grabbed six rebounds.

Despite Dancy finding some success on the offensive end, the Rebels as a whole struggled all game long from the field. Reeltown made only 25 percent of their shots against the Indians’ defense.

The Rebels were also ineffective from long range, making only 26 percent of their threes, despite taking more than half of their total shots from beyond the arc.

In addition, Reeltown didn’t do a good job of taking care of the ball. The Rebels turned the ball over 22 times in the loss, and it is the team’s second straight game with at least 20 turnovers.

C.J. Bell scored nine points for the Rebels. Bradley McKeithen scored eight points and added eight rebounds. Ariko Stewart had five points, five rebounds and two steals.
