Head Start seeks enrollment for 2014-15 programPublished 7:20pm Thursday, January 16, 2014
Chambers-Tallapoosa Head Start is accepting applications for the 2014-15 program year.
Though the program accepts children ages 3-5 throughout the year, Linda Randolph, office manger and for Head Start of Chambers-Tallapoosa, said that every year they have a time period focused on signing up new children. The center serves about 528 children.
“We do a major recruitment at this time,” Randolph said.
The free program is funded through a federal grant.
“We provide learning and education for children ages 3-5,” Randolph said. “We also provide two meals and one snack a day.”
The child development program has six locations – three in Chambers and three in Tallapoosa.
“We try to help our children as much as we can,” Randolph said.
Applications are available by visiting one of the six centers or the central office in Dadeville.
“We have applications for parents to fill out that can be picked up at any Head Start center,” Randolph said.
In addition, parents will also need income verification, copy of the child’s birth certificate, copy of the child’s Social Security card, immunization record, a physical and dental check-up to enroll their child.
Once the program is full, children will be put on a wait list.
