Alexander City Police arrested a suspect in connection with a Friday evening robbery.

Police arrested a 27-year-old black male Friday evening after responding to a robbery at the Alex City In-and- Out Friday evening.

“Friday night at about 8:25 p.m., the caller advised that she had just been robbed and the suspect took off running,” said Capt. Tommy Lovett. “The subject had a pistol that was gray and black, was wearing a black shirt with a maroon shirt under it, and had on blue jeans.”

Police are not releasing the suspect’s name because the case is still currently under investigation.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were told the suspect fled in the direction of Brandy’s Trailer Park on Dadeville Road.

Lovett said patrol officers proceeded to surround the area and began checking cars leaving the trailer park.

“Officers were stopping vehicles as they came out of the trailer park area to make sure the suspect wasn’t in one of the vehicles,” Lovett said. “When they stopped one of the vehicles, we had a man that fit the description, and he had a large sum of money in his pocket.”

Lovett said the victim described the suspect as someone she knew prior to the robbery.

The suspect arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.

Lovett said the robbery was caught on video and there were no injuries during the robbery or the capture of the suspect.
